“Even the darkest night will end,

and the sun will rise”

Victor Hugo

At every stage of the process,

we’re there to help you.

  • Stage I: Entering the Criminal Justice System

For those who are entering the criminal justice system for the first time, it can be a confusing, scary process. Even for those who have been the system before, each new charge/case can bring new challenges and questions. Services offered at this stage include:

    * Clarifying charges and plea offers

    * Understanding any potential sentence(s), including time credits and realistic release dates

    * Answering questions about life inside Maryland state and county DOC/DPSCS facilities (phone, commissary, etc.)

    * Lawyer/representation help and recommendations

  • Stage II: During Incarceration

Life inside is wildly different than life outside, and completely foreign to anyone who has never had to go through it. Using the experience and knowledge of people who have gone through the system themselves, we can provide answers that may not be readily available anywhere else. Services offered at this stage include:

    * Assisting with credit calculation (GTC, Earned Credits, SPC, etc.)

    * Answering questions about programs and opportunities at DOC/DPSCS facilities

    * Clarifying confusion about life inside a DOC/DPSCS facility

    * Discussing post-convction remedies available, such as legal motions, modifications/reconsiderations, and 8505/8507 procedures

    * Answering questions and providing resources regarding the parole process

  • Stage III: Re-Entry Services

After learning how to survive on the inside, finally getting out can feel foreign to the strongest mind. The internal struggle is only compounded by difficulties in finding a job, rebuilding relationships, and finding a positive, productive way of life that doesn’t lead to more criminal behavior. Services offered at this stage include:

    * Assistance with finding employment and the job-hunt process, including interview and resume help

    * Referrals to appropriate mental health services or substance-abuse programs in the area

    * Answering questions regarding parole and probation (including questions about the registry)

    * Assistance with finding reliable and safe housing

  • ...and much more!
